Yemenis’ Resistance to Shape Region’s Future: Iranian Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) admired Yemeni people for their steadfast resistance against Saudi-led military aggression, saying it will shape the future of the region.

“The rare resistance and fortitude shown by the oppressed people of Yemen will determine the region’s future and its security,” Ali Shamkhani said on Tuesday.

He made the comments in a meeting in Tehran with a delegation of the high council of Yemen’s revolution.

Shamkhani further noted that the only way to bring about security and stability in Yemen is dialogue among Yemeni groups and rejection of any foreign interference.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s support for the Yemeni nation in their battle against foreign aggression.

The top Iranian official slammed Saudi Arabia’s bombing of Yemen’s civilian areas and killing of people as “war crimes”, calling for international reaction to the attacks.

Head of the visiting delegation, for his part, expressed gratitude to Iran for its supports for the Arab country, stressing that armed resistance to the Saudi-led invasion will continue.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition for more than six months.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies, began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
