Poland Keen to Boost Ties with Iran: Senate Chairman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chairman of Poland’s Senate Bogdan Borusewicz voiced Warsaw’s willingness to tap into the existing capacities for the expansion of its economic ties with Tehran, particularly given the recent conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and world powers.

The atmosphere created after the nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France, and Germany) has provided good opportunities in different economic fields for cooperation between Iran and European countries, Poland in particular, Borusewicz said on Sunday.

The Polish lawmaker, who is in Iran on an official visit, made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with the Iranian head of Iran-Poland Parliamentary Friendship Group Vahid Ahmadi.

The current level of economic exchanges between Tehran and Warsaw is low, he said, adding that the capacities for increased economic cooperation should be used.

He also said Polish economic institutes and corporations are keen for joint investments and cooperation in the agriculture, industry, and energy sectors of the two countries.

“The historical friendship between the two nations, and the positive attitude of the Polish government and senate towards the Islamic Republic of Iran can make a great contribution to the reinforcement of bilateral ties in political, economic, and parliamentary fields,” he added.

Ahmadi, for his part, highlighted the significant role the two countries’ parliaments play in the expansion of Iran-Poland ties, and urged that the great potentials for increased parliamentary cooperation between the two sides should be used to develop relations in different  economic and trade fields.
