Iran Keen to Expand Ties with Tunisia: Deputy FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian voiced the country’s willingness to reinforce its relations with Tunisia.

In a Monday meeting between Amir Abdollahian and the visiting Head of Iran-Tunisia Brotherhood and Friendship Society Mohamed Saad in Tehran, the two sides explored avenues for promotion of cultural and economic collaborations and discussed regional developments.

Amir Abdollahian referred to a recent visit by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to Tunis and its positive outcomes, saying that the ties between the two countries are growing.

Tehran is ready to further expand its bilateral relations with Tunis, he added.

Saad, for his part, said he was pleased to make the trip to Iran and get familiar with Tehran’s achievements, saying the Muslim world is proud of scientific, industrial, and technological accomplishments of the Islamic Republic.

Earlier last month, Iran’s Foreign Minister Zarif visited Tunisia and Algeria during his regional tour of Africa, and conferred with the countries’ high ranking officials on issues of mutual interest.
