Investigation Underway after Two Killed in Shooting in Southwest Iran: Police
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A detailed investigation is underway into a drive-by shooting attack in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan, in which two people were killed, a provincial police official announced on Saturday.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Seyed Rahman Mousavi, the province’s deputy police chief for social affairs, pointed to the shooting that occurred on Friday night in Safiabad in Dezful County, saying that a detailed investigation is underway to find those behind the incident.
“Unfortunately, two locals were killed and two others were injured in the shooting,” he said, adding that the assailants’ motives are not known at this point.
The police official further stressed the need to provide correct information about the shooting and avoid spreading rumors.
He urged people to pay heed only to the information released by credible media outlets over the incident.
Acceding to media reports, the shooting attack occurred during a Shiite mourning ceremony late on Friday night.
