Zarif: Iran Ready to Open New Economic Capacity for Brazil

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined the significance of cooperation between Iran and Brazil, and stated that his country can pave the way for Brazil’s access to new economic opportunities, including markets in the Central Asia.

At a meeting with Brazilian Minister of Development, Industry, and Trade Armando Monteiro here in Tehran on Monday, the two minister explored avenues for the further expansion of bilateral ties.

The Iranian minister, for his part, said Iran considers the recent Brazilian delegation's visit to Tehran as important for identifying new capacities for mutual cooperation.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoy ample possibilities to open ways for cooperation with Brazil and we can provide Brazil with new markets of the Central Asia with (a population of) 350 million,” he noted.

He said Iran attaches great importance to Brazil in its foreign policy since Brazil enjoy special place in the Latin America and the BRICS.

Zarif further highlights the two sides’ complementary role in creating new economic capacities, adding that the two countries’ companies, banking and economic institutions are playing vital role to that end.

The Brazilian minister said his country wants expanded relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the recent visit between Iranian and Brazilian presidents on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting and also the meetings between their foreign ministers have resulted in further expansion of ties.
