Iran Welcomes Enhanced Ties with Japan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian president in a meeting with Japan’s new ambassador to Tehran highlighted the abundant opportunities for investment in Iran.

The ground is prepared for Tokyo to cooperate with Tehran in different fields, President Hassan Rouhani said in a Tuesday meeting with Hiroyasu Kobayashi, the new ambassador of Japan.

The president added that the Japanese can invest in Iran’s environment sector, expansion of railroads, renewing port facilities and electrifying the country’s rail lines.

He also stressed that Tehran and Tokyo enjoy the political will to deepen bilateral relations.

The envoy, for his part, voiced the emperor of Japan’s enthusiasm for enhanced ties with Iran.

Hailing a recent nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), Kobayashi said Japan will mobilize its state-run and private sectors for economic cooperation with Iran, which he described as a major and influential country in the region.
