Iran, Lithuania Ready to Expand Agriculture Cooperation
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Lithuanian ministers of agriculture discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation on agriculture and environmental protection.
Iran’s Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati said Tehran is ready to enhance bilateral ties with Vilnius on production of fish, grains, and livestock as well as in forestry and protection of natural resources.
He made the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Virginija Baltraitiene here in Tehran.
Given the abundant capacities and capabilities of the two countries in the field of agriculture, Tehran hopes that Iran-Lithuania mutual cooperation on trade and technical areas of agriculture would further expand, he added.
Baltraitiene, for her part, hailed Iran’s “impressive” progress in livestock and poultry industry, and welcomed the expansion of agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
The Lithuanian minister expressed the hope that more opportunities would be provided in the future for bilateral talks, and that the two countries would start their trade exchanges in a short time.
She also invited her Iranian counterpart to pay an official visit to Lithuania and attend an agriculture exhibition due to be held in the Baltic country next year.
