Plot Underway to Make A Pro-Israel Syria: Hezbollah Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement’s second-in-command, Sheikh Naim Qassem, warned of a plot entailing formation of government in Syria that would recognize the Zionist regime of Israel and surrender to the US policies.

“What is happening in Syria is damaging a government that supports the resistance in the face of the Zionist occupiers,” the top Hezbollah official said in meeting of the high council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

Sheikh Qassem underlined that the crisis in Syria is part of a broader plot with the purpose of establishing a new government in Damascus that would recognize the Tel Aviv regime and give in to the US and Israeli demands.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from various groups, including the ISIL, currently controlling parts of it.

According to the United Nations, more than 240,000 people have been killed and one million wounded during the conflicts.

Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, the staunch allies of Damascus, have been giving their support to Syria’s legitimate government in countering the foreign-backed militants.
