Iran Resolved to Continue Friendly Ties with African Nations: VP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said the Islamic Republic has continued support for African nations since its establishment, adding that all-out cooperation with Africa is among Iran’s foreign policy priorities.

“Despite ups and downs, Iran has never desisted from its principled policy toward Africa and has always sided with the African peoples, governments and leaders,” Jahangiri stated in a message to a conference held in Tehran on Tuesday to introduce projects and opportunities for economic cooperation between Iran and Africa.

“From the very beginning of its establishment, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always regarded friendly relations based on all-out cooperation with Africa as one of the priorities of its foreign policies,” he noted.

Iran is willing to cooperate with African countries in all fields relying on internal capabilities and based on the principles of equality and mutual interests and respect, the vice president went on to say.

Earlier, in a ceremony attended by Jahangiri and South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa in Tehran on Saturday, the two countries signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on economic cooperation.

The MoUs include cooperation in capital market, economic interaction and trade.
