The MoU was signed in a ceremony attended by Iran's Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi and his Kyrgyz counterpart Talantbek Batyraliyev in Tehran on Sunday night.

In his remarks during the ceremony, the Iranian minister emphasized that Tehran is fully prepared to cooperate with Bishkek in various areas of medical education, research and health care.

“We can also have good cooperation in the area of health economy within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO),” Hashemi noted.

He further expressed the hope that the two countries would reach practical ways to develop relations in the areas of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and vaccines.

Earlier on September 5, Iran and Kyrgyzstan had signed eight MoUs and cooperation agreements during a ceremony held in the Iranian capital with the two countries' presidents in attendance.

An MoU on agricultural cooperation, an agreement on the extradition of criminals, and a plan for increased cooperation between the two states’ foreign ministries were among the agreements signed then.

The other MoUs inked by Iranian and Kyrgyz officials were on Tehran-Bishkek energy, air transport and consular cooperation as well as cooperation among chambers of commerce.
