TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Armed Forces General Staff warned the adversaries that any wrong decision to invade Iran’s waters will face a shattering blow by the country’s naval forces.
Any act of aggression against Iran’s maritime borders will draw the country’s “harsh and crushing reaction” and will make the aggressor regret their mistake, the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff said in a statement on the occasion of the Navy Day.
The statement also hailed the Iranian Navy’s presence in international waters and “strategic” waterways in remote marine areas as a sign of enhancement of Iran’s naval capabilities and role-playing in overseas regions.
Making a reference to the Iranian forces’ successful fight against piracy in the high seas over the past years, the statement underscored that the Navy conveys the message of peace, international security and combatting the causes of insecurity all over the world.
Iran marks Navy Day on November 28.
Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari had announced earlier that a specialized maneuver will be held in the Sea of Oman using a range of underwater craft, including homegrown submarines, to mark the day.
Iran has in recent years made great headways in defense areas. Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
