Iranian Police Defuse 21-kg Bomb in Southeastern Province

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian bomb disposal experts managed to defuse an explosive in southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, the provincial police chief said.

Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi said on Sunday that the 21-kilogram bomb was unearthed at a main road connecting the two cities of Iranshahr and Sarbaz.

He added that the country’s elite security police forces along with anti-narcotics troops were dispatched to the area after receiving information from locals that hostile groups had planted a booby trap along the road.

After hours-long search operation, the forces managed to find a small box which comprised around 21 kg (46 pounds) of explosives, General Rahimi added.

He went on to say that the police forces defused the bomb successfully after coordination with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) base in the region.
