Iran Nuclear Deal Expected to Be Implemented in January: Russian Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Russian permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Monday said the recent landmark nuclear deal finalized between Iran and six world powers is expected to be implemented next month.

Vladimir Voronkov told reporters in the Austrian city of Vienna on Monday that the July 14 nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1(Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) would be implemented in January, leading to sanctions relief for Tehran, Reuters reported.

The Russian envoy further said that his country will begin imports of enriched uranium from Iran before the end of this year.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as P5+1 or E3+3) finalized the text of the lasting agreement, known as the JCPOA, on Tehran’s nuclear program in Vienna on July 14.

According to the JCPOA, “All enriched uranium hexafluoride in excess of 300 kg of up to 3.67% enriched UF6 (or the equivalent in different chemical forms) will be down blended to natural uranium level or be sold on the international market and delivered to the international buyer in return for natural uranium delivered to Iran.”

Voronkov also referred to a report released recently by the IAEA on Iran’s nuclear program and past activities and said, “We believe that based on this final assessment the board of governors should close the so-called PMD (possible military dimensions) issue."

The assessment will be the basis of one final report by the IAEA Board of Governors that is expected to close the case on the so-called PMD in Iran’s nuclear program once and for all.

As part of a Road-map signed between Iran and the IAEA in July, the agency is required to finish its investigations about Iran’s nuclear activities and submit a report to the Board of Governors by December 15.

The Road-map was signed on the same day that Tehran and the Group 5+1 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement, known as the JCPOA.

The IAEA has been given the role of verifying Iran’s commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The agreement was officially adopted on October 18, and is going to take effect within the next few weeks.
