10 Killed as Military Plane Crashes Near Delhi Airport

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ten people were killed as a small plane operated by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) crashed near the Delhi airport on Tuesday, soon after take-off.

All on board, including three BSF officers and seven technicians, were killed.

The incident happened near the Delhi airport at 9:50 am local time (04:20 GMT), moments after technicians lost contact with ground control.

Sources say the plane hit a wall and crashed into a septic tank. The aircraft burst into flames and was almost completely wrecked.

"We saw a plane spiralling down and crashing near the wall where some labourers were working, A labourer was injured," said a witness, local NDTV broadcaster reported.

India's Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh said on Twitter that the news of BSF plane crash was "extremely painful" and said he was on his way to the crash site.
