Muslim Unity Disables Foes: Iranian Cleric

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tehran’s provisional Friday prayers leader described unity among the Islamic nations as the most effective formula for countering the enemies of Muslims.

Addressing worshippers in Tehran on Friday, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati underlined that Muslim solidarity will discourage the adversaries from looking askance to the Islamic countries or even think of acts of aggression against Muslims.

Deploring lack of unity among the Islamic countries, the top cleric hailed fraternity between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims inside Iran, saying they live with coexistence in a brotherly manner.

He also congratulated the Unity Week, saying Shiites show respect for the Sunni brothers who believe that the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) falls on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi' al-Awwal.

While Shiite Muslims regard the 17th day of the month as the birthday of the last prophet, the interval between those two dates has been named Unity Week.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also described unity as the only solution to the problems the Muslims are facing.

The Leader has repeatedly warned that the “arrogant powers” have created religious wars in the Islamic countries to divert attention from the fight against Israel.
