10-Man Persepolis Escapes Defeat in Iran Professional League

MASHHAD (Tasnim) – Persepolis of Tehran football team was lucky to escape defeat against Padideh in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Saturday.

Ramin Rezaein scored an excellent goal from set-piece in added time to help Persepolis earns 2-2 draw in Mashhad, northeast of Tehran.

Mehdi Kheiri gave Padideh the lead in the 57th minute after Persepolis keeper Sosha Makani failed to punch the ball in the area.

Nine minutes later, Mehdi Taremi found the back of the net with a header.

In the 73rd minute, Persepolis defender Mohsen Bengar scored an own goal and with five minutes remaining, Makani received a well-deserved red card.

Padideh could have extended its lead on counter-attack but Makani brought down the team’s striker outside the area.

Rezaein scored for Persepolis with a long-range shot.

In Isfahan, IPL leader Esteghlal Khuzestan was held to a 1-1 draw by Sepahan.

Rahim Zohaivi scored for the visiting team in the 58th minute and Mohammad Reza Khalatbari cancelled out his goal in the 85th minute.

Esteghlal Khuzestan remains top of IPL with the draw.

Meantime, struggling teams Rah Ahan and Foolad shared the points.
