AFC U-23 Championship: Syria 3 – 1 China

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria kept alive its AFC U-23 Championship quarter-final hopes by beating China 3-1 in Group A on Friday.

Liao Lisheng put the Chinese team into the lead in the 21st minute in Doha’s Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

Syria’s Omar Kharbin equalized the match from the penalty spot after China goalkeeper Du Jia was sent-off just before the break.

Kharbin scored once again in the 54th minute and with seven minutes remaining, Al Baher made it 3-1.

China was defeated against Qatar 3-1 on Tuesday and Syria had lost to Iran 2-0 in the same day.

A total of 16 teams are battling for the three places available for Asian sides in Rio in Qatar from January 12 to 30 at four venues.
