Iranian President Submits Budget Bill to Parliament

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani presented the draft budget for the next Iranian fiscal year (beginning March 20) to the country’s parliament.

The president submitted the bill to the parliament on Sunday morning and gave some explanation on the country’s economic condition, including the current declining trend in inflation and recession.

He also presented the draft motion of the 6th quinquennial national development plan to the parliament.

Back in June 2015, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had outlined the general policies of the country's 6th quinquennial development plan.

On defense and security, the proclamation necessitated an increase in Iran's defense capabilities at the level of a regional power in order to fulfill the national interests by allocating at least 5 percent of the national budget to boosting the defense power.

It also put emphasis on adhering to the Resistance Economy, a series of general policies aimed at boosting Iran’s economy and lowering its vulnerabilities.
