Iran, Ghana Underline Support for Palestine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The presidents of Iran and Ghana highlighted the Palestinian nation’s right to live freely and independently in their motherland.

In a meeting of high-ranking delegations from Iran and Ghana in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Ghanaian counterpart John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed support for the people of Palestine.

Efforts for restoration of the rights of the Palestinian people and settlement of their problems should not be hampered by anything, President Rouhani stressed, adding that if a resisting nation (Palestine) strives to reach its goal, it will emerge victorious.

For his part, the visiting Ghanaian president said the fate of Palestinians has become a source of concern for years.

“We believe that people of Palestine should enjoy free and independent life in their own country and motherland,” Mahama added.

He further hailed Iran for its “matchless” role in securing peace in the Middle East, saying Tehran can effectively contribute to the settlement of conflicts in the region.

Heading a high-ranking economic and political delegation, Mahama arrived in Iran on Saturday. In the first visit by a Ghanaian president to Iran in 37 years, he is also scheduled to meet with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
