Iran Routs Iraq at AFC Futsal Championship


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian national futsal team humiliated Iraqi team in the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship on Sunday.

Team Melli, who had already defeated Jordan 6-0 and China 7-0 in Group B, beat Iraq 13-2 in its third match.

Hossein Tayebi (four goals), Mahdi Javid (three goals), Asghar Hassanzadeh (two goals), Mohammad Taheri (two goals), Hamid Ahmadi and Farhad Tavakoli scored one goal each for the Iranian outfit.

Amjad Kareem and Waleed Khalid Fahem scored for Iraq.

The 2016 AFC Futsal Championship is the 14th edition of the AFC Futsal Championship and got underway in Uzbekistan from February 10 to 21.

A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament.

The tournament acts as the AFC qualifiers for the World Cup. The top five teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia as the AFC representatives.
