Militants Kill 9 Tribal Policemen, Destroy Girls' School in NW Pakistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least nine tribal policemen were killed in two separate attacks by militants who also destroyed a girls'school in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Mohmand Agency on Thursday, local media reported.

In the first incident, some unknown militants attacked and killed two tribal policemen who were guarding a solar tube-well in Darwazgai area of Mohmand Agency, a restive tribal area along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The militants also set the tube-well on fire before fleeing the scene.

In the other incident seven tribal policemen were killed when the militants opened fire at a check post in Pandyali area of Mohmand Agency.

Several policemen also got injured in the attack and were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment, Xinhua News reported.

The militants also blew up a Girls' Primary School in Ekka Ghund area of the Agency by using explosive materials.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Police cordoned off the area following the attacks and kicked off investigations.
