Saudi Arabia, Israel Both Targeting Axis of Resistance: Hezbollah Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Deputy Head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council Sheikh Nabil Qaouk said Saudis, Takfiris and Israelis are pursuing a common goal, which is confrontation with the Axis of Resistance.

The Resistance movement is currently at the height of its military, popular and political power, and that has distressed some parties, Sheikh Qaouk was quoted as saying by the Lebanese Al Manar television network on Saturday night.

He added that the parties have realized that the Resistance movement is a position of power in the face of Israel, Saudis and Takfiris.

“Confrontation with the Axis of Resistance is where the objectives of Israel, Saudi Arabia and Takfiris (in the Middle East) converge,” he stressed.

The remarks come as tensions have been soaring between Hezbollah and Saudi Arabia over long-simmering disputes.

In the latest development, Hezbollah supporters briefly blocked roads around Beirut and east Lebanon late Saturday to protest a short skit broadcast on a Saudi-owned channel poking fun at the secretary-general of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah.

Young men had originally gathered around 9:30 pm in the southern Beirut suburb of Msharrafieh to protest the two-and-a-half-minute skit on MBC’s “WiFi” comedy program showing a man impersonating Nasrallah.

There, they shouted slogans calling for the death of the Saudi royal family and expressing their loyalty to Nasrallah.

The protests quickly spread to other areas around Beirut where some protesters blocked roads with burning tires.

Protesters also blocked a road at the entrance of Baalbek in northeast Lebanon.

No violence or damage to property was reported, and all roads around the capital were reopened.
