Next Intra-Syrian Talks to Be Held on March 7-24 in Geneva: Opposition

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – According to a leader of the so-called Syrian People’s Will Party, the intra-Syrian reconciliation negotiations will be renewed in Geneva on March 7 and will continue through March 24.

“I have received an invitation from [UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan] de Mistura to come to Geveva on March 7,” Qadri Jamil said Monday, Sputnik News reported.

He said that the conference would last until March 24.

The United Nations special envoy for Syria said Friday he plans to resume peace talks on March 7 if a cessation of hostilities negotiated by the United States and Russia largely holds.

The Syrian government and opposition groups have agreed to the cessation of hostilities, but the accord excludes UN-designated terrorist groups like the Daesh (ISIL) and Nusra Front, which hold swaths of Syrian territory.
