Iran Never Asked Hamas to Do Something in Return for Support: Zahar

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, underlined that Tehran has never asked Hamas to do anything in exchange for its supports.

Mahmoud al-Zahar warned certain countries that are trying to undermine relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hamas, the Arabic-language Palestine al-Yawm news agency reported.

The Hamas figure called on some Arab and Muslim countries to avoid political games in their interaction with the Palestinian group, the report added.

He further highlighted Iran’s unwavering support for the Axis of Resistance, and said the country has always assisted Hamas without expecting it to get involved in any case.

Speaking earlier this month, Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook had said up to now, no Islamic or Arab country has assisted the Palestinian Resistance as much as Iran, particularly since 2006 when the Islamic Republic threw its support behind the Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip.

London-based newspaper Asharq al-Awsat, which is funded by the Saudi royal family, claimed on January 31 that Abu Marzook had criticized Iran regarding its proclamations of supporting Hamas, especially those on support being presented post 2009.
