Iran's President Rouhani Congratulates Bulgaria on National Day


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday offered his congratulations to the Bulgarian people and government over the country’s national day.

In a message to his Bulgarian counterpart, Rosen Plevneliev, President Rouhani felicitated Bulgaria on the occasion of its national day on March 3.

Citing age-old ties and common interests between the two nations, Rouhani expressed the hope that mutual bonds would further boost in future.

Bulgaria celebrates on March 3rd its national day, marking liberation from almost 500 years of Ottoman rule more than 130 years ago.

On 3 March 1878, the Treaty of San Stefano between Russia and the Ottoman Empire ended the Russo-Turkish War, and paved the way for bringing Bulgaria back to the political map.
