Iran’s Cleric Highlights Importance of Defense Might for Repelling Threats
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian cleric underlined the need for boosting the country’s defense capabilities, saying that the US opposes the Islamic Republic’s sovereignty.
Addressing a large group of worshippers here in Tehran, the city's Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Kazem Sediqi underlined that Iran should continue to enhance its defense power more resolutely so that no country “dares even dream of” waging war against the Islamic Republic and other Muslim nations.
The world countries have made rapid progress in the field of missile technology and are trying to outpace us in the nuclear issue, he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Sediqi referred to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s recent televised speech on the occasion of the New Persian Year, and said the message indicated that “Economy of Resistance means neither surrender nor restrictions”.
He further called on the government and officials to seriously implement the Resistance Economy and address the country’s economic problems.
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei last week named the new Persian year “Year of Resistance Economy: Action and Implementation.”
Back in 2014, Ayatollah Khamenei had sent a proclamation to heads of Iran’s branches of power and outlined general policies to boost the country’s economy and lower its vulnerabilities under a grand plan, dubbed Resistance Economy.
