Syrian Troops Continue to Gain Ground in Nationwide Battles against Terrorists

According to a report carried by Syria's official SANA news agency on Saturday, the Syrian Armed Forces targeted Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) positions in the central province of Homs and succeeded in liberating several areas from the clutches of the terrorists after claiming the lives of scores of them.

The areas of Jabal al-Rmeileh, Maqtal al-Wassadi al-Mazare, Sin al-Kharroubi al-Kabir and al-Hizam al-Beed in the vicinity of al-Qaryatain city were freed during the operation.

The Syrian troops also defused explosive devices and mines that terrorists had planted in the liberated areas.

In a separate development on Friday, the army soldiers clashed with the Daesh terrorists in Syria's Western province of Hama and killed large numbers of them in the villages of Jana al-Albawi, Oqeirbat and al-Rahjan under the cover of Syrian airstrikes.

Additionally, Syria’s Air Force targeted Daesh hideouts in the eastern Deir Ezzur province, killing more than 40 terrorists in the operation. Several Saudi nationals were identified among the dead.

Also, over 30 terrorists were killed after militant infighting intensified in Mohassan city in the province.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

The Syrian conflict has killed at least 260,000 people, according to the UN, and more than half of Syria’s pre-war population of 22.4 million has been internally displaced or fled abroad.
