Air France to Resume Direct Flights to Tehran Sunday

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The French airline company, Air France, will resume direct flights to Tehran on Sunday following the removal of anti-Tehran sanctions.

According to a report carried by the Financial Times on Friday, “Air France is set to resume Paris-Tehran flights on Sunday”.

The resumption of a thrice-weekly service between Paris and Tehran is planned for April 17 following a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers.

Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached a nuclear deal on July 14, 2015 and started implementing it on January 16.

The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.

Earlier this month, Air France ordered its female flight attendants to adhere to the Islamic dress code when flying into Iran.

The order instructed the stewardesses to cover their hair once they disembark in Tehran, urging them not to smoke in public spaces.

Some of the airline’s female crew protested at the decision and said they will refuse to fly to the Iranian capital when the airline resumes the service.

In response to their protest, the company issued a statement and said that female staff are allowed to refuse to work on the Tehran route without facing punishment, but those who do fly into Iran will have to follow local Islamic law and wear a veil.
