Iran’s President, Iraq’s PM Stress Fighting against Terrorism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a phone conversation with Iraq’s Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi underlined the necessity for the continued fighting against terrorism.

The Iranian president underlined anti-terrorism campaign “an important duty for all responsible governments” both in the region and the world.

He further lashed out at some countries for their efforts to strengthen terrorism through military aid to Daesh (also known as ISIL) Takfiri terrorist and buying oil from it.

President Rouhani then assured Iraq’s Abadi of Tehran’s continued support for the stability and security in its western neighboring country.

“Tehran will support the Iraqi government and nation in their fight against terrorism and will not spare any help” in this regard, he reiterated.

Abadi, for his part, briefed Rouhani on the latest political and security developments in his country.

He called for collective regional cooperation against Daesh, saying it will be in the interests of both the region and the world.
