TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A silence regime in the Damascus region of Ghouta will be extended until the end of May 1, Sergei Kuralenko the head of the Russian reconciliation center in Syria said Sunday.

According to Kuralenko, the silence regime, that was introduced on Saturday in parts of Syria’s Latakia province and in Damascus area, is generally holding.

In addition, active negotiations on the introduction of a silence regime in Aleppo province are currently being held," Kuralenko said, according to Sputnik.

Russia and the United States brokered the regime of silence that would be implemented in the Damascus’ suburbs for 24 hours and in the northern Latakia province for 72 hours starting midnight of April 30.
