Iran’s FM Condoles Hezbollah on Commander Martyrdom

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed condolences to the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement over the martyrdom of its top military commander Mustafa Badreddine.

In a Friday message to Hezbollah Secretary-General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, Zarif offered condolences to Hezbollah, the Lebanese nation and family of Badreddine, whom he praised for devotion and courage in defending the aspirations of Islam.

Foreign Minister Zarif also underlined that martyrdom of the top commander will further boost the resolve of resistance forces in the fight against the Zionist regime of Israel and terrorism.

Mustafa Badreddine was martyred in a massive explosion near Damascus International Airport on Friday, in an attack believed to be carried out by Israel.

He was the commander of Hezbollah's military arm, its chief of intelligence, and adviser to Nasrallah.

Badreddine was also the cousin and brother-in-law of the top Hezbollah commander, Imad Mughniyeh, who was likewise assassinated by the Israeli regime in Damascus in 2008. Israel’s spy agency, Mossad, killed Mughniyeh by remotely detonating a bomb planted in the spare tire of a parked SUV in the Syrian capital.
