Iran, Algeria Stress Closer Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri and Algeria’s Minister of Industry and Mines Abdesalam Bouchouareb weighed plans at a meeting in Tehran for boosting bilateral relations with the termination of anti-Iran sanctions under a nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.
In the post-sanctions era, Iran gives priority to expansion of ties with friend countries, including Algeria, Jahangiri said at the meeting with the Algerian minister on Tuesday morning.
The Iranian vice-president also touched on the country’s progress in heavy industries such as petrochemical, steel production and automotive industries, voicing Tehran’s readiness to share its experiences with Algiers.
Bouchouareb, for his part, referred to a delegation of 100 representatives from Algerian companies accompanying him in the visit to Iran, saying the trip has provided a good opportunity to get acquainted with Iran’s capabilities and weigh plans for closer cooperation.
Back in November 2015, Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal met Jahangiri in Tehran to discuss closer relations between the two Muslim countries, including cooperation in the fight against terrorism and settlement of regional disputes.
