Iran's Zobahan, UAE's Al Ain Share Points
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Zobahan drew 1-1 with inaugural ACL winner Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates in the first leg of their 2016 AFC Champions League Round of 16 meeting on Wednesday.
Al Ain striker Douglas netted nine minutes into a game but Mohammadreza Abbasi’s 76th minute header earned Zobahan a 1-1 draw in the match held in Dubai’s Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
The two teams will face off in Isfahan next Wednesday, with Zobahan holding a slender advantage thanks to Abbasi’s header, which came about as a result of a defensive mix-up between goalkeeper Khalid Eisa and former AFC Player of the Year nominee Ismail Ahmed.
The second leg will be held at the Foolad Shahr Stadium in Isfahan on May 25.
