Speaker Warns of Attempts to Cause Trouble for Iran after JCPOA

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani blamed the other side of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) -a lasting nuclear deal between Iran and world powers- for seeking to put Tehran in trouble and mount pressure on it with excessive demands.

“They seek to make trouble for Iran, but we need to monitor events and developments,” Larijani said at an open session of the parliament on Sunday, after Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif briefed the lawmakers on the latest status of implementation of the nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Larijani then emphasized that Iran’s administration and parliament and a committee tasked with monitoring the JCPOA implementation should remain vigilant and block the US excessive demands.

There is evidence that the other side is exerting pressure on Iran through various channels, the speaker warned, calling on the Foreign Ministry to take countermeasures and carefully monitor the hostile moves to avert pressures on the country.

While the JCPOA came into force in January, some Iranian officials complain about the US failure to fully implement the accord.

Back in March, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Americans have yet to fulfill what they were supposed to do as per the nuclear deal.

Iran still has problems in its banking transactions or in restoring its frozen assets, because Western countries and those involved in such processes are afraid of Americans, the Leader said at the time, criticizing the US for its moves to prevent Iran from taking advantage of the sanctions removal.
