The Russian foreign minister stressed that political and democratic approaches were the only way to resolve the current Korean issues.

"We reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to the goal of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and in this regard stressed that both Russia and the Republic of Korea will not accept North Korea's self-proclaimed nuclear status. We stressed the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 2270 in the interests of influence on Pyongyang, and will pursue its full implementation," Lavrov said, Sputnik reported.

He added that Russia and South Korea also discussed the prospective of high-level bilateral contacts.
