Clinton, Obama Postpone Election Campaign after Orlando Shooting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee in the 2016 US presidential election, and President Barack Obama postponed a campaign event planned for Green Bay on Wednesday.

Clinton’s campaign announced Sunday afternoon the event will be rescheduled, but did not have more detail.

The event was cancelled “because of the tragic attack in Orlando,” a release from Hillary for America said. Early Sunday, at least 50 people were killed and 53 injured when a gunman entered a gay nightclub in Orlando, claiming ties to Daesh or ISIL.

Obama addressed the issue Sunday, calling it a crime of terrorism and hate.

Local Democrats spent several days over the weekend preparing for the visit, according to the USA Today.
