Iran Urges Push to Consolidate Muslim Unity, Promote Genuine Islam

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s president called for efforts to bring Muslims closer together, establish peace in the Islamic world and portray the real image of “the religion of kindness” to the world.

President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday sent separate congratulatory messages to heads of Muslim countries on Eid al-Firt, the holy festival marking the end of the Muslim month of Ramadan.

In his message, the president expressed the hope that stronger “rapport and cooperation” among Islamic nations would contribute to Muslim fraternity and unity, as well as establishment of peace, calm and security in the Islamic Ummah (community).

He also urged efforts to counter divisive moves and the attempts at misrepresenting Islam, stressing that the genuine image of Islam and its kindness and pacifism should be publicized.

Eid al-Fitr, also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world.

The holiday celebrates the conclusion of 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.
