3 Dead after Takfiri Terrorists Shell Eid al-Fitr Prayers in Syria’s Aleppo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least three people were killed after Takfiri militants attacked Eid al-Fitr prayers at a residential neighborhood in Syria’s northern city of Aleppo on Wednesday.

According to reports, three civilians were killed and 30 others sustained injuries when several mortars fired by terrorists struck the al-Mashhad neighborhood of the city, Fast Mail reported.

The attack came as people gathered in the city located some 355 kilometers (220 miles) north of Damascus to say Eid al-Fitr prayers marking the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr, also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world.

The holiday celebrates the conclusion of 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists, including Daesh (ISIL) and al-Nusra Front, currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimates that over 400,000 people have been killed in the conflict.

Since September 30, 2015, Russia has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh and other Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria at the Syrian government’s request.
