Hossein Amir Abdollahian emphasized on Tuesday that the Saudi regime is “directly responsible” for the protraction of the peace negotiations in Kuwait.
Talks between representatives of Yemen’s fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and delegates representing Houthis and allies have been going on in Kuwait City since April 21, but no concrete progress has been made for a permanent solution to Yemen’s conflict.
The Iranian diplomat further reiterated Iran’s continued humanitarian and spiritual support for the Yemeni nation, ruling out reports that Tehran is interfering in the Arab country’s affairs.
Deploring Riyadh’s warmongering policies in the region as wrong and dangerous, Amir Abdollahian said, “Saudi Arabia is the main source of regional crises”.
Riyadh launched its military aggression against Yemen on March 26, 2015, in a bid to bring Hadi — who has resigned as Yemen’s president — back to power.
More than 9,400 people have been killed and at least 16,000 others injured since the onset of the aggression.
