Protest Held in US against India’s Crackdown on Muslims in Kashmir

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Tasnim) – A group of Muslims and peace activities staged a rally in the US state of Texas to condemn the recent killings of Muslim people in the Indian-administered part of Kashmir.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the rally was held on Sunday afternoon in Houston to protest at the systematic killing of Muslims at the hands of Indian troops in Kashmir.

During the demonstration, the protesters were carrying placards saying, “India: Stop State Terrorism,” “Justice Not Bullets,” and “Peace Not Pellets.”

Clashes in Kashmir erupted on July 9, when thousands of protesters thronged streets in towns across the restive region to condemn the death of a popular secessionist leader at the hands of Indian security forces.

The violence has been among the worst in the region in years. Indian forces have shot dead at least 45 people since July 9, while thousands of others have been injured.
