Yemeni Peace Talks in Kuwait to Be Extended for another Week

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Negotiations on a peaceful settlement to the conflict in Yemen, currently underway in Kuwait, will be extended for another week, a source at the talks told Sputnik on Tuesday.

The source noted that the sides had recently made certain progress, which provoked the extension of the negotiations.

The UN-brokered talks to end the Yemeni conflict started in Kuwait on April 21. On July 20, the Kuwaiti government gave the warring sides 15 days to settle the crisis before it would stop hosting the talks.

Since 2014, Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between forces loyal to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Houthi Ansarallah movement.
