Scores of Terrorists Killed in Syria’s Aleppo as Army Braces for Final Battle

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Tens of Takfiri terrorists were killed in Syrian military operations and airstrikes across the Arab country’s northwestern city of Aleppo on Monday.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the Syrian army along with forces from the Resistance Front on Monday reinforced their defensive lines around a number of military academies in al-Ramouse region, west of Aleppo, forcing the terrorists to retreat from their fighting positions.

Tens of terrorist elements lost their lives during the heavy fighting.

In a separate development, the Syrian forces managed to kill a large number of the terrorists in a series of ambushes near military schools and roads leading to southern Aleppo.

Additionally, 37 armored vehicles belonging to the militants were destroyed during the operations in Khan Touman and areas near the military training centers.

Also on Monday, the Syrian Air Force targeted an Aleppo-bound terrorist convoy in the northern province of Idlib, destroying all of them.

Earlier, Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Syrian government troops and Takfiri militants besieged in Aleppo are bracing for a final battle to gain control of the city.

“Both sides are amassing their fighters in preparation for the great battle of Aleppo,” he said.

Some 2,000 soldiers have joined the ranks of government troops, who have besieged militant-held areas in the northwestern city, he added.

A report published is Syria’s al-Watan daily also noted that the army had received “the necessary military reinforcements to launch the battle to retake the areas from which it withdrew,” adding that, a crucial attack on the terrorists was “imminent... and inevitable”.

Syrian Army troops are fighting to recapture the strategic northern city from terrorist groups.

The security forces encircled Aleppo on July 17 after closing off the last terrorist-controlled route into the city.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
