9 Dead, 40 Wounded in Chicago Weekend Shootings, Police Say

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Nine people were killed and at least 40 more have been wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday, police said on Sunday.

The most recent homicide happened about 4:20 pm Sunday, when someone shot a 17-year-old boy in the abdomen. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died, police said.

In another incident Nykea Aldridge, a cousin of American professional basketball team Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade, was shot to death Friday afternoon as she pushed one of her children in a stroller in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood on the South Side. 

Aldridge, 32, was pushing a baby in a stroller in the 6300 block of South Calumet about 3:30 p.m. when two other men walked up and shot at a third man, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. 

Aldridge, was shot in the head and arm. She died at Stroger Hospital at 4:15 p.m., authorities said. Two men have been charged with her murder and were ordered held without bail Sunday.

Chicago police also reported other incidents across the city.
