More Areas Liberated from Terrorists in Syria’s Aleppo

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syria’s army, backed by volunteer forces and military advisers, managed to wrest control over more areas in southern Aleppo after fierce clashes with Takfiri terrorists.

According to Tasnim dispatches, Syrian troops made major advances against terrorists in Aleppo’s southwest on Tuesday, and managed to seize control over al-Qarasi, al-Amarah and al-Baranda areas near Umm al-Qar’, a key hilltop recaptured from the Takfiri militants recently.

Large groups of the militants were killed and a number of their vehicles were destroyed in the operations.

In a separate development, Syrian opposition groups admitted that east of Aleppo was completely encircled by the Syrian army and their allies on Tuesday.

Additionally, the Syrian armed forces destroyed two terrorist hideouts in al-Rastan city in northern countryside of Homs province.

Syrian Army troops backed by allied forces are fighting to recapture the strategic city of Aleppo from the terrorist groups.

The security forces encircled Aleppo on July 17 after closing off the last terrorist-controlled route into the city.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
