Rebel-Held Districts in Syria’s Eastern Aleppo under Full Siege

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian Army supported by allied forces fully recaptured three military academies in southwestern Aleppo from the foreign-backed terrorist groups and managed to lay siege to the rebel-held districts east of the strategic city.

In a massive operation on Sunday evening, the Syrian forces attacked the positions of the terrorists in three military academies southwest of Aleppo and retook full control over them, the Syrian Army announced.

All recently-established rebel supply routes from the southern Aleppo into eastern neighborhoods of the city have been cut off by the Syrian forces, according to the army.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, a military source said the Syrian forces took full control of the premises of the three military academies in southwestern Aleppo after heavy clashes with militants affiliated with the Jaish al-Fatah terrorist group.

According to sources in the battlefield, the Syrian troops are making more advances in the Aleppo operation.

Syrian forces are busy fighting to recapture the northern city of Aleppo from terrorists. The security forces encircled Aleppo on July 17 after closing off the last terrorist-controlled route into the city.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
