Iran Has Great Influence on Region: Top Adviser

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A special aide to Iran’s parliament speaker described the country’s influence over developments in the Middle East region as great and unparalleled, saying that such influence has further empowered the Islamic Republic.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has a great influence on regional developments in the last 5 to 6 years and the influence has empowered us in various spheres,” Director General of International Affairs at the Iranian Parliament Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a speech in Tehran on Monday.

He further hailed “the discourse of the Islamic Revolution” as another factor in the empowerment of the country, and said, “When we take the discourse into consideration from outside the borders, we realize its formative influence and its impact on the security of the region and Iran.”

He further emphasized that the Islamic Republic has used the influence in producing wealth and managed to win major concessions from world powers in the nuclear negotiations, regardless of the obstructionist moves and failures of the US to remain committed to the nuclear deal.

While the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a 159-page nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), came into force in January, some Iranian officials complain about the US failure to fully implement the accord.

Earlier in March, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Americans have yet to fulfill what they were supposed to do as per the nuclear deal.

Iran still has problems in its banking transactions or in restoring its frozen assets, because Western countries and those involved in such processes are afraid of Americans, the Leader said at the time, criticizing the US for its moves to prevent Iran from taking advantage of the sanctions removal.
