Source Rejects Report on President Rouhani’s German Visit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An informed source at Iran’s Presidential Office denied reports that President Rouhani is scheduled to pay a visit to Germany.

“The president has no plans to travel to Germany at the moment, and this report is not true,” the source said on Sunday.

The denial came after Germany’s Tagesspiegel quoted Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi as saying that President Rouhani will travel to Berlin in late September or at most in early October for an economic visit, without any political talks on agenda.

“The visit will include sign of key contracts and agreements for infrastructure projects including with Siemens AG,” the German daily newspaper quoted the Iranian minister as saying.

Back in January, President Rouhani visited Italy and France after coming into force of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).
