Afghan Special Forces Free 101 People from Taliban-Held Prison

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Afghan special security forces freed 101 people from a prison held by the Taliban extremist group in southern Afghanistan.

According to reports, the prison from which the detainees were freed is located in the Helmand Province, Sputnik News reported. 

During months of fighting, the Taliban have seized control of large parts of Helmand and driven government forces from several districts.

Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with government forces fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency, while other extremist groups have also expanded their activities in the country and in neighboring states.
