According to Tasnim dispatches, a military source said that the Syrian Army has begun advancing toward Qudsaya on the northeastern outskirts of Damascus after armed groups violated a recent truce in the district.
Heavy clashes erupted on Tuesday between the terrorists and the army forces in two towns near Qudsaya, which led to the death of dozens of the terrorists and the escape of others to Qudsaya.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, a military source said the army is resolved to complete its advances in the region.
This is while, representatives of the armed groups and the Syrian government in the district have reached an agreement to stop fighting, the source said.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.
According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
