Terrorist Rocket Attack Kills Dozens of Civilians near Aleppo

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Dozens of Syrian civilians were killed and injured in a rocket attack launched by Takfiri terrorists near the northwestern city of Aleppo.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the terrorist rocket attack targeting residential areas in Syria’s strategic towns of Nubl and al-Zahra near Aleppo on Tuesday left scores of innocent people dead and injured.

The attack also caused serious material damage to private and public properties.

Later in the day, Syrian troops, backed by resistance forces, responded to the attack and targeted the Takfiri terrorists’ positions in northern Aleppo. The offensive claimed the lives of tens of them.

Back in February, in a major blow to Takfiri groups, Syrian troops liberated the two Shiite-populated towns of Nubl and Zahra, choking their supply lines from Turkey to the city.

Aleppo, once Syria’s commercial and industrial hub, has been divided roughly in two parts since 2012, with the government controlling the west and terrorists the east.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
